Season 2 of 12 Monkeys premiered on Syfy on April 18 and concluded on July 18, 2016 with a total of thirteen episodes. The series was renewed by Syfy on March 12, 2015.

Production[]
Stanford, Schull and Acevedo were announced as reprising their roles in the second season renewal press release on March 12, 2015. It was announced on March 13 that Emily Hampshire, Todd Stashwick and Barbara Sukowa have all been promoted to series regulars.
During Summer 2015, it was announced that several actors had been cast as recurring characters for season 2 which include Brendan Coyle, Jay Karnes and Scottie Thompson.
On February 25, 2016, it was announced that Madeline Stowe, who portrayed Kathyrn Railly in the 1995 film, would guest star in the season finale.
Terry Matalas and Travis Fickett, co-executive producers and writers of the pilot, will be stepping up as co-showrunners for the second season. Former showrunner Natalie Chaidez will departing to work on a new show for Syfy, Hunters.
The first drafts of the season two scripts were written in May 2015, with filming officially commencing on July 14, 2015. Production ran through December. Post-production finally wrapped on March 19, 2016.
